Fairchild: Real St. Louis Music

FAIRCHILD'S rootsy music reflects the soul of the jazz, blues and rock scene that has been thriving in St. Louis nightclubs since the days of Miles Davis. After cementing their reputation as St. Louis's hottest live band, FAIRCHILD cut their first CD "EXTREME REUNION" under the Blueberry Hill Records Label founded by Joe Edwards. Edwards is the owner of the rock and roll restaurant and bar Blueberry Hill, a St. Louis landmark.

It was their love of rhythm and blues that brought CONNIE FAIRCHILD and DAVID TORRETTA together to form FAIRCHILD. For David it was playing with greats like Chuck Berry as a teenager infusing blues and soul into his music. And for Connie, who brings a country influence to the band, it was growing up in Kentucky and Louisiana that chiseled her voice into their heartfelt and honest sound. They have mixed the roots of American music. "We have lots of musical influences," says David, "but we're not historians--we take the music we grew up with and go from there."

The other members of FAIRCHILD are MICHAEL NEWMAN, (formerly of the AARDVARKS), who contributes his extraordinary veteran talents on lead, rhythm and slide guitar which is integral to the FAIRCHILD sound. MICHELE ISAM on sax, vocals, percussion, harmonica and guitar provides even more tonal and musical variety to fill out their sound. DON DREWETT is an excellent and nuanced drummer that understands subtleties in the different rhythmic feels that the music dictates. FAIRCHILD is currently finishing their 2nd CD.
